1=2?

I just found this old-time mathematical riddle again in some forum.

$x^2 - x^2 = x^2 - x^2$
$x(x-x) = (x+x) (x-x)$
$x = x+x$
$1x = 2x$
$1 = 2$

One is equal to two?! That's totally absurd.
Can you can spot the mistakes?

x-x is 0 not 1…

  The idea was to divide the left and right side by “(x-x)”
  That probably gives a hint on what went wrong already..
